You're invited to join us for an ODATC outreach event.
Friends of Nelson for a Community Conversation: Discover the Appalachian Trail: History, Hikers, Angels and Magic, on Wednesday, June 17th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Pat Doyle, Outreach Chair and past President of the Old Dominion Appalachian Trail Club, will speak. He brings over 40 years of trail-building and hiking experience to the stage. Having hiked the entire AT in sections starting in Nelson County and finishing in Maine in 2025, Pat will share his firsthand knowledge in a presentation, followed by a Q&A. Subjects will include thru-hiking, trail magic, trail angels, and local AT History, including the relocation of most of the Appalachian Trail in the area that took place in the 1980s.
We'd love to see club members form the Waynesboro and Wintergreen areas. Contact Pat Doyle at Patrickjd9@gmail.com for more information.
