For the third year in a row, ODATC will be represented at the Waynesboro Hiker Fest on Saturday, June 6th. This event coincides with the largest group of AT thru-hikers passing through our trail section, and is a lot of fun. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy and the Charlottesville/Southern Shenandoah Valley Chapters of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club will also be there.
Our outreach in the Waynesboro and Wintergreen areas has helped us meet local people who have become members, giving us great help with advance information on trail conditions and responding quickly to do things such as post trail signs about changing trail conditions.
We will need several volunteers to staff a table at this event, and it would be great to have someone with (or who can loan) a cart or hand truck to move our display materials.
If you just happen to be in the mountains that day, or live in the area, please stop by. More information on the Fest is at https://www.visitwaynesboro.com/hiker-fest-2026-waynesboro-va/
Please contact Pat Doyle to volunteer at Patrickjd9@gmail.com.
